Housing Timeline and Process

The following lists out the dates for each step of the housing process. The group in which you are placed depends upon when you have submitted the housing contract. Scroll down to access the step-by-step instructions on the housing process. If you are a continuing student, please visit the continuing student housing lottery timeline.

New Spring 2020 Students

New Spring 2020 students may submit a contract between October 1 – December 13, 2019. These students will participate in room selection and room changes based on the below dates.

New Fall Students Group 1

Students who submit a contract between October 1 – November 22, 2019, will be placed in Group 1. These students will participate in roommate selection, room selection, and room changes based on the below dates.

Students who submit a contract between April 4 – 30, 2020, will be placed in Group 6. These students will participate in room selection based on the below dates.

Students who submit a contract after May 1, 2020, will be placed in Group 7.  These students will be individually assigned by the DHRL staff.

The Housing Process

The following instructions provide a step-by-step guide of the housing process. All steps are shown to provide students with information that is necessary when completing their housing contracts.

For each step you will log into the Texas State StarRez Housing Portal — you will need your NetID and password.

1. Log In

Log in to the Texas State StarRez Housing Portal by using the Texas State University Login button at the bottom of the page.

2. Welcome

You will be brought to the Welcome page each time you log into the Texas State StarRez Housing Portal. This page has important information about living on campus.

On the right side of the Welcome page, your name and Student ID Number are displayed along with some action buttons.

Please write down your Student ID Number (A0#) as you will need it later to submit your housing contract, then click the Submit Housing Contract button for the academic year you are applying.

3. Housing Contract Selection

Here you will click the green Apply button for the semester you were accepted for.

4. Personal Details

The first step once a housing contract has been started is the Personal Details page. Please review the information on this page for accuracy and contact the Registrar’s Office at 512.245.2367 if there are any errors. Incorrect information might affect housing status.

Fill out your contact information that you wish to share with your roommate or suitemate.

5. Required Information

The next two pages are asking for some required information.

If there are any housing accommodations that should be taken into consideration when making assignments, please select "Yes" to the second question. You will need to contact and get approval from the Office of Disability Services (512.245.3451) to receive special accommodations.

6. Terms & Conditions

The Terms & Conditions page must be signed in order to continue with the housing process. By entering your Student ID Number (A0#), you have signed and agreed to the Terms & Conditions of your housing contract. This is a legally binding contract. You have 72 hours to cancel without penalty; the request to cancel must be submitted online.

7. Housing Pre-Payment Checkout & Receipt

On the following pages, you will be asked to make a housing pre-payment. You will be emailed a receipt upon submission of your payment.

Unless your pre-payment is waived, your housing contract is not complete until we receive your housing pre-payment.

8. Contract Confirmation

Your housing contract is now complete. Please verify that the email we have listed is the correct email address. This is the email we will be using to contact you with any further information.

9. Signature Living-Learning Communities

Once you have completed your housing contract you will be asked if you are interested in joining one of our signature Living-Learning Communities (LLCs). A list of LLCs can be found here.

If you selected “Yes” that you are interested in living in an LLC, you will be asked to list up to three (3) preferences on this page. You must list at least one (1) preference to continue. If you change your mind, use the navigation bar at the top to return to the Living-Learning Community (LLC) Interest page and select “No” to the question.

Choosing your LLC preference(s) does not automatically put you in an LLC. You will need to submit a separate application for your preferred LLC through the Living-Learning Community website.

10. Housing Contract Status

This page will let you know the status of your housing contract, as well as, your Timeslot for Room Selection.

10. Meal Plan Selection

You will need to purchase a Meal Plan from Texas State Dining if you live on campus. If you live in Bobcat Village, purchase of a Meal Plan is optional. For more information on Meal Plan purchases, please visit Texas State Dining's website here.
