The dates for move-in are set. Our move-in process is set up to allow new students the ability to select a move-in date and time based on the schedule provided below. Please read carefully to learn more about how you will sign up for your appointment to arrive.

New Student Move-In

Future residents with an extenuating circumstance that would like to request to arrive on Sunday, August 15 can do so through the Housing Portal. Requests should be processed as received and may take a week. Be sure to schedule a time for August 16 or 17 should you not be approved for August 15 move-in.
Move-In Arrival Appointments
There will be 30-minute arrival appointments each move-in day for each residence hall and apartment complex.
You will be able to sign up for a specific move-in arrival appointment online through our Housing Portal based on the last two digits of your student ID number. Your ID number starts with "A0" and is followed by seven digits. Sign-up times start at 9:00 a.m. each day and end at 12:00 a.m. midnight each day.

If you are unable to sign up on your date as indicated above, you will be able to sign up any time starting on June 7, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.
You can make changes until July 15, 2021.
Guests During Move-In
Moving in and getting settled into your new place can be a lot of fun. Many of our future residents enjoy sharing this day with loved ones and rely on them for assistance. To alleviate traffic congestion, we ask that you limit your total number of vehicles to two or fewer. Parking in the unloading zones will be limited and you will need to move your car to one of the designated parking areas after your time is up. Keep in mind that August in San Marcos is very hot and humid. Please consider the guests you bring and how the hills and heat may affect them.
Guests are not required to get a COVID-19 test for move-in at this time.
Decorating your room is one of the best things about living on campus. Review the list below for items that are allowed in your room and some that should be left at home. Consult with your roommate to help coordinate who brings what.
Pack your belongings in smaller, more manageable boxes and suitcases. Consider leaving your winter clothing until later in the semester.
We encourage you to bring a small hand cart, dolly, or other moving equipment for assistance on move-in day.

1Only fish are allowed and in no larger than a 10-gallon tank.
2Command strips are not allowed on the walls as it can damage the paint. The use of command strips may result in damage fees. Only thumbtacks, push pins, and wall putty are allowed for hanging decorations.

Please do not send mail or packages to yourself before move in.
Early arrivals are select groups of students such as student athletes, strutters, and university band. These students are part of sponsored University groups and will be notified via their Texas State email address.
Please claim your space by Sunday, August 22, 2021, to avoid losing your space. If you are unable to check-in by August 22, 2021, please contact our office at 512.245.4663 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The first day of class is Monday, August 23, 2021.
