Apply to Join

The ACT Ally membership year runs from July 1 – June 30.  Applications for membership to ACT Ally 2018– 2019 will open June 12, 2018

Note: Friday, June 29th, 2018 is the deadline for Members and Affiliates to join or renew and qualify to attend the Texas State Off-Campus Living Expo and the Texas State Off-Campus Living Flier Fair.

Membership Categories:


Member – An operating multi-family community located within the San Marcos city limits. A newly constructed property is eligible to submit an application to join ACT Ally no sooner than six months from the issuance date of the Temporary Certificate of Occupancy.


Affiliate – A product or service business that supports the rental housing industry. Examples are property management, locator services, furniture rental, utility bill management, insurance companies, storage, movers, etc.

Application Forms

The Member and Affiliate applications are online starting June 12, 2018. 

Only online applications are accepted (no paper or scanned copies).

The Member application is to be completed by the general or acting property manager. In addition, a Corporate Support Form must be submitted by a regional or corporate level manager to ensure understanding and support of ACT Ally.

The Affiliate  application must be completed by an owner or representative of the business.

Friday, June 29, 2018 is the deadline for Members and Affiliates to renew or join and qualify to attend the Texas State Off-Campus Living Expo and the Texas State Off-Campus Living Flier Fair.

Membership Fees

The participation period begins July 1, 2018 and ends June 30, 2019. Member fees are based on the number of beds or rooms in each complex. Affiliate fees are flat rate. Dues are not pro-rated.

Completed Application Process

Your application is considered completed when

  • Member or Affiliate application submitted and approved
  • Corporate Support Form considered completed for a Member property
  • Crime prevention survey passed (new Member)
  • Payment submitted
  • ACT logo is on website homepage

Removal from ACT Ally

As an ACT Ally Member or Affiliate, it is important to understand participants are viewed as a select group to help students and parents make more informed decisions when choosing off campus housing and services.  A Member or Affiliate may be involuntarily removed if they are found to have significantly violated any expectation, evaluation criteria, or are responsible for an event or situation that brings discredit to the ACT Ally program, Texas State University, and/or the City of San Marcos.
