Roommate Requests

I am a new student. Can I room with a friend already living there?

It is difficult to place a new student with an existing student. Students who currently live on campus have the opportunity to select where they will live next semester, which means they have priority over incoming students. Current students are not allowed to hold a space in their room for new students to be assigned.

New students are allowed to self assign themselves to a room or suite during the room selection process.
If you are unable to assign yourself into the same room, or even the same residence hall, with your friend, you have from the first day the residence halls open through the 12th day of class to make a change if space permits. You will receive instructions for this once you arrive on campus.

What do I do if I do not get along with my roommate?

Residents are expected to take initiative in confronting inappropriate behavior of others that disrupts community life. This includes confronting disputes with your roommate. If disputes can not be solved between roommates, please contact your RA and/or Residence Director.
