Cat Crew 13

Thanks for volunteering to help with new student move-in. Your participation is critical in helping students have a great first impression when they arrive on campus.

If plan to volunteer, please review the information below regarding your participation. If you have any questions or need to cancel your registration, please email reslifecatcrew@txstate.edu. Students canceling must do so by 5pm on August 14th.

SCHEDULE

Friday, August 16th

  • 10am-2pm: Volunteers who will reside in a residence hall or Bobcat Village may check into their fall assignment.
  • 3-5pm: ALL volunteers receive t-shirts, work assignments and training at the LBJ Student Center ballroom. (Each volunteer will receive an e-mail tailored to their work assignment)

Saturday, August 17th

  • 9am-5pm: New student move-in (all volunteers will work an assigned 4-5 hour shift)

Sunday, August 18th

  • 9am-5pm: New student move-in (all volunteers will work an assigned 4-5 hour shift)

GUIDELINES

  • Show up on time for registration and your assigned shifts. Student volunteers living in an on-campus residence hall or apartment are being allowed to move in early. Volunteers who fail to comply with Cat Crew requirements will be billed for those extra days in the hall and for the two Cat Crew shirts received.
  • Wear your Cat Crew shirt on both move-in days. They must be worn as a shirt and not as a headband, etc. (Each volunteer will receive two shirts.)
  • Wear comfortable shoes. Tennis shoes are the safest and most comfortable shoes to wear while carrying boxes up flights of stairs. Avoid flip-flops.
  • Eat meals either before or after your assigned shift. Volunteers will be encouraged to take water breaks, but there will not be a break time for meals.
  • Bring any community service forms needing signatures to your Cat Crew area leader. He or she will sign them on the last day of your assignment.

STUDENT ORGANIZATION NOTICE

We appreciate the opportunity to partner with on-campus and community organizations to welcome new students. We understand this may be an outreach opportunity for your group but we hope that your members do this out of a desire to participate in the tradition of welcoming new students to the campus community, rather than simply a desire to recruit new members.

Group Requirements:

  • You must be a recognized student organization or group.
  • Each group will need to commit to working a shift on both Saturday and Sunday.
  • You must have a minimum of 10 volunteers.
  • You must select a group leader for every 10 volunteers.
  • Group Leaders will need to attend an informational training and will serve as the contact for their group.
