A unique setup in which students co-enroll in core classes with their hall mates. This gives them built-in study partners and creates a tight-knit community. These students also participate in events held outside the classroom that are designed to help them succeed in college, develop as individuals and gain transferable/marketable skills. A faculty member also lives within the college to serve as a mentor and advisor.

No problem!  While the co-enrolled courses are the most important part of the program, we realize that students come to college with different needs and experiences. We will work with you and your academic advisor to develop a schedule that best suits your needs. Residential College may not be benefitial if you are unable to co-enroll in the courses we offer.

Yes, but only if the request is mutual and only if your requested roommate will be in Residential College as well. Both of you need to be admitted to the program.

Halls are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Typically, we will assign students to a Residential College hall (Beretta, Brogdon or Laurel) by late May every year.

No, we estimate your time commitment to be a total of 12 clock hours outside of the class each year. That is only six clock hours per semester. We have a variety of activities every year from which students may choose a time and day of the week that are convenient for your schedule.

During New Student Orientation, all students must attend an academic advising session. After you are advised, you will break off from your Orientation group and go to meet with Residential College staff to build your schedule. We have set aside seats in our co-enrolled courses for you and there are plenty of class meeting times to choose from.

Yes, these are two separate processes. When you are admitted to Texas State, you will be sent a packet of housing information. Complete your contract and mail it in with your $300 prepayment. Once that has been received, you are eligible to complete your preferences for housing using our Bobcat Preferences system. Then, complete the short application for Residential College.

Beretta, Brogdon, and Laurel are only open to students who will be participating in the Residential College program. Students who want to participate in Residential College will have the opportunity to select Beretta, Brogdon, and Laurel during the Residential College application process. Here is the complete process:
